Judge Roberts

There is evidence that Roberts is not happy with Roe v. Wade, although it should probably be remembered that most of his record on that subject comes from his years as a functionary in Republican administrations. He may have been just doing his job. (Juan Non-Volokh commented on that here.) So far, everybody seems to agree that he is very, very good at doing his job.

I don't have anything insightful to say. I just wanted to get a post up today. I'm optimistic, if anybody would like to know.

I keep hearing about the Attorney General. You're saying your optomistic about Roberts?

Attorney General? I'm not sure I follow.

I was kind of surprised that Bush nominated a white male with such a bland name. I don't think such superficial elements should influence a nomination, of course, but I am still surprised. It seems like everything Bush does is playing to a certain crowd of potential voters, and I was expecting to see him play toward either women or Hispanics with this nomination.

It does make me quite happy, though, that many conservatives do not think that Roberts is far enough to the right.

Why does it make you happy?

Mainly because the "conservatives" to whom I referred include Ann Coulter. I would be terrified if she thought he was the perfect man for the job.

Then again, Coulter disagreeing with anything this administration does makes me slightly suspicious. . .

Oh? Really? Terrified? Why? What qualities would terrify you?
Oh heavens Randy, I disagree with things this administration has done, and you know how conservative I am. I don't think there's some vast conspiracy.

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity."
--Ann Coulter

Ann Coulter refers to anyone to the left of Bush as a traitor to the United States. She spits out her venemous hate to a throng of neoconservatives who drink it as if it were ambrosia. Her views on a large number of things are extremist.

If Roberts made her happy, he would be, in my opinion, one of the worst people for the job.

And honestly, while I may disagree with you on a number of points, you are no Ann Coulter. As for the "vast conspiracy" thing, I'm not going to ignore anything.

Sounds like what Micheal Moore does for the other side of things....But that's neither here nor there.
Hm. Well, we should certainly promote the spread of Christianity as much as possible, but as individuals, not as a nation.
And who knows, maybe sometimes she goes overboard on purpose, just to stir up the hornet's nest.
And I would love to see the things that would make her "happy" about Roberts, that would make him bad for the job.
And if you get to be paranoid about the "right", I get to be paranoid about the "left".
