The Big News
So, basically I'm pretty sure all of my readers already know. Don't worry, an official Wheeler version of events is near at hand. I'm just too tired to get to it tonight. It's been a fun day, a wonderful day, a memorable day . . . but a long day.
In the meantime, Rachel dearest, a few facts that might be of interest: I am your fiancé. You are my fiancée. Just remember, the one you have to spell has fewer letters. Here are a few other spellings that might come in handy in your account of events: "betrothed," "museum" (but remember, it was the R. W. Norton Art Gallery, not a museum), "Shreveport," "Louisiana," "diamond," and, of course, "Jared Wheeler."
Yes, that last one is a joke.
Also, many sincere thanks to Gallagher and Randy for their integral role in the implementation of my schemings. I really appreciate it, you two. Gallagher, you are truly a Roommate among Roommates. I have a very high regard for most of my college roommates, and certainly for all of my current roommates, but you have definitely gone far beyond the call of duty today. Yes, I'll tell all my single friends.
As for the rest of you, you may amuse yourselves whilst you wait with Martinez's highly entertaining account of fall break. No, seriously, go read it.

Posted by: Randy at October 26, 2005 01:53 AMCongratulations once again. I look forward to reading the "official Wheeler version."
Oh, and thanks for the plug. :-p I updated the post to take your new development into account.
Posted by: Martinez at October 26, 2005 08:22 AMMany congratulations. God's Blessings be always upon you both.
Posted by: Knight's Disciple at October 26, 2005 08:51 AMFrom the future "Parents in Laws" Congradulations and welcome to the family. We are excited to see what the Lord has in store for you two. By the way, when a girl gets engaged her heart takes over for a very long time. Thus the brain, which does spelling and grammer, does not work well. And trust me..it is worth it!
Posted by: at October 26, 2005 09:17 AMBlessings on you both....
are you certain she needn't know how to spell "cubic zirconium"?
Congratulations, you two! Thanks to modern day email, news has gone around the country and the world. Congratulations have rolled in from many quarters.
We are excited for you both and pray God's richest blessings of happiness and fulfillment on your lives.
The kids at the Hogar can't wait to meet you, Rachel.
So, Jer, does this mean Rachel's link changes from Mi Chica to Mi Novia?
Mazel tov!
Posted by: Wilson at October 26, 2005 02:39 PMTwo apartmentmates down, one to go before I am officially the only singe, non-engaged one of the whole bunch. *celebrates* I'm very happy for you both. *grin*
Posted by: Paigels at October 26, 2005 02:41 PMCongratulations Jared. And thank for the call.
Just for the record, Rachel said that she would be interested in me if you weren't there. :)
Posted by: Asa at October 26, 2005 09:29 PMCONGRATULATIONS Jared! We can't wait to meet Rachel -- you're on our calendar for May, right now you have the whole month so let us know when we can narrow it down.
Love from Auntie C.
