Ad Hoc
I accompanied the fledgling on-campus chapter of Sigma Tau Delta (The International English Honor Society) to Olive Garden this evening to consume a scrumptious supper and discuss activities and involvement for next semester. We also needed to elect officers for next year.
There were four offices to fill. There are currently four members of the LeTourneau Chapter who are not graduating in May.
Meet the new secretary. That's right . . . I get to take notes and type things up and send out important missives handed down to me by my roommate, errr . . . the president. Dr. Solganick seems to think that having a male secretary puts us on some sort of avant-garde cutting edge in comparison to other chapters.
As my first official act I will now go sulk in the corner.

One more thing PAINT YOUR WAGON GETS ONLY 52%!!!!!AAARRRGGGGHHH
Posted by: fry at March 29, 2005 08:49 AMI didn't know that you had been inducted into STD. I was inducted at JBU a few semesters ago, as I think I told you. UCCS has a chapter, but since I work afternoons/evenings, I have not had time to attend any meetings. Oh well, I still got the cool-looking pin.

Alright, I'll grant that I really liked the history in Paint Your Wagon . . . It was cool in that sense and I liked the way it showed how major cities got their start with the rough miners slowly giving way to "civilized" settlers.
HOWEVER, as far as assessing the movie I just couldn't get past the fact that they made a musical with two leads who CANNOT SING. Also, most of the songs were either terrible or simply forgettable. I dunno . . . maybe it deserved a bit more credit, but I watched it with a group of people who largely hated it, so it was hard to tell.
Well, Ace, unfortunately this position isn't exactly a moneymaker, it just makes my resume happy.
Posted by: Blame Jared at March 29, 2005 01:19 PMMoriah is forgettable? Though indeed Clint is a poor singer. PYW was very very popular in "the day". Our choir at middle school performed every song in concert one year....and come to think of it we did sound better than Clint E. But, but, but...you're dissing my childhood!!
Posted by: fry at March 29, 2005 06:45 PMPersonally, I think male secretaries are "juss the kee-yoo-dist thang."
Posted by: Ma Hoyt at March 30, 2005 04:47 PMMale secretaries....just be careful whose lap you choose to sit in. By the way thanks for the details about Easter weekend...i would never know what goes on in a certain young ladies life if you didn't like to blog.
Posted by: MoM at March 31, 2005 10:55 AMWell Jared, you might try making money indirectly. There are several ways to do that. But okay, so no salary. Are you still poor?
