How to save Episode III

In many ways, “Phantom” and “Clones” were the answer to the unasked question “What would the director of ‘Plan 9 From Outer Space’ have done with a talented effects crew and a $200 million budget?”

. . . .

Maybe the best thing to do would be to get Anakin to embrace the Dark Side as quickly as possible, perhaps by forcing him to confront some terrible disappointment that will haunt him for the rest of his days. We suggest this two-line scene set in a Coruscant restaurant:

WAITER: Here’s your green salad, sir.
ANAKIN: What? You fool, I told you NO CROUTONS! Aaaaaaargh!

Christopher Bahn elaborates at MSNBC.

Sounds good to me! Who wants to start a petition?

i personally have a difficult time believing that such a whiney person as Anakin can turn into darth vader. He would just go and whimper when the good guys blew up the death star

It remains a mystery to me how that much talent in one cast could lead to two of the dumbest films of all time. Lucas KNOWS he's not a screenwriter. I (giving myself away here) had the annotated screenplays once apon a time. All the memorable lines from the entire trilogy were written by his script doctors. I'll go see the third one out of respect to the original, but I'll go prepared to be in awe over the costumes, and cringing through the rest.

This little post jogged my memory (it didn't have to jog far). See, I kinda crashed on a couch over in the girls' apartment for about 3 hours and at one point I distinctly remember having a dream.

In this dream I somehow got my hands on a collection of shots from Episode III, depicting an all-out attack by hundreds of CG Yoda clones. It is a testament to the abysmal screenwriting capabilities of Lucas that I found this absolutely believable . . . in fact, I believe that it could happen even now.

*shudders*
