Pregnant Women

Last night there was a conversation in the Ice Cave regarding my being scared of pregnant women, their inherant instability, and the likelihood that they would take their wrath out on me. I had relatively few supporters, many perplexed onlookers, and even a couple of nay-sayers. This comic is kind of illustrative of the point I was driving at... kind of.

Not being privy to your conversation, (though VERY interested if you would care to email me a synopsis :-) I offer an unsolicited, but never-the-less experienced, nay EXPERT opinion on pregancy related tantrums:

(specific to the cartoon)People don't go around touching womens' bellys who are NOT pregnant, (well, ok, NORMAL people don't) so, why should they think they have an inherent right to do so when someone IS pregnant?

In general: the mood swings of pregnancy are much like the fabled mood swings of a non-pregnant woman, only 10 times worse. Or, they could be non-existant. Just one of the many ways we keep men off balance :-)

Think of it as a more than fair trade-off for not having to experience labor, delivery and it's aftermath yourself.

If you wish to explore the deeper meanings behind your fears, "Ma's" theraputic computer couch is always open....."WAH, HAH, HAH...."

The conversation covered something along the lines of the Cynic's fear of unstable and unpredictable pregnant women and their historical tendancy to lash out at him in nonsensical, emotional tirades for insignificant reasons.

Granted... I find the tendancy to rub pregnant women's stomachs at least a wee bit creepy, and find the response at least mildly appropriate, I still fear the irrational and nonsensical nature of many of the pregnant women with whom I have interacted. And while I suppose dealing with them is probably better than "having to experience labor, delivery and it's aftermath," I guess I don't see logical, rational interaction as an unreasonable request of people with whom I must interact.
