... even dirty water or piss will do to make these dehydrated meals edible.

Even more importantly, I wonder about the fact that all viruses can make it through. If the water were contaminated by various biological weapons, which, presumably, the military may face at some point, it seems altogether too probable that the troops would not be safe using this filtration. But then again, haven't troops always been fairly disponsable (from the point of view of the government)?
Granted... but still, these new rations are far safer and lighter than the old rations and thusly much more advantageous to the soldier carrying them.
