Someone Messed Up Somewhere

So, watching network television the past few days without a remote control for the tv has made me sit through a few commercials. Mostly because I'm too lazy to get up and change the channel. However, I have gained an amazing new insight into the world around me; the fashion world in particular.

Someone decided to let the 70's back in. Unfortunately.

After seeing one too many Old Navy commercials for their Brand New peasant skirts, I realized I am doomed to see what I thought I had fortunately missed by a couple of decades. I'm sure not everything trendy in the 70's was horrible. Just the vast majority of it.

Of course you all realize what this means. Yep. In 5-10 years, we will once again be living in the 80's. I hope you're looking forward to it.

Just for the record, (I just now read your May 29th post *bad sarah*) Uru is worth every penny you paid for it.
I'm now WAY behind on Myst & Uru. At one point I had played them all and was waiting for more to come out, but now that I don't have any time to do it, they come out with Myst 4 AND Uru 2... :-(
There's also at least one new "Mysterious Journey" out, too...
And yeah, gotta love the 70's fashions...

Ardith is commenting on fashion? *Reaches for smelling salts*

I'm afraid I've already seen some evidence of an 80s resurgence. Just here and there.

Posted by: Wilson at June 4, 2005 11:49 AM

HA, the 80's...it'll be like Back to the Future when they go to the future and everything still has an "80's flare."

Posted by: TANK at June 6, 2005 08:33 AM

You should play "The Longest Journey", its a really great adventure game that came out a few years ago.

Posted by: Moore at June 6, 2005 09:29 AM

*blink*
*Pointedly avoids beginning mindless debate with Sarah on Ardith's blog*
Um . . . Uru only has two expansions, no sequel.

And I happen to like fashion of the 70's. Bell-bottoms and t-shirts. Hip-huggers and peasant blouses. Sex, drugs, and awesome music. bring it back in full force!

Posted by: Scott at June 6, 2005 12:08 PM

Yeah, I liked Longest Journey, too, Moore. Got it a couple of months ago.

And it is true that whether one likes a particular fashion style or not has a great deal to do with... uh... something. Can't quite put my finger on it...

Let's call it strangeness and see if I insulted anyone! =D

Posted by: Ardith at June 6, 2005 05:21 PM

Sorry...
I meant the expansion packs.

And I already knew I was a little strange... :-D

How'd your first day of work go, Ardith?!?

Posted by: Sarah at June 6, 2005 09:27 PM

Pretty well, I think. Of course, it was mostly new hire orientation meetings.

Posted by: Ardith at June 7, 2005 06:27 AM

Oh, dude, you aren't kidding!? Isn't it wierd? I mean, I get back from a year at LU, and BAM, the rest of the country has switched back 3 decades. Kind of disconcerting... The hair....*shudders*

How do you like orientation? ;) Heh, I just love it, I remember those. Sit through 7 hours of, "Don't touch that", and "Always be safe". Bleh. Hope yours went better.

Heaven help us-- stirrup pants just can't come back! They can't! I think I'd rather be stuck with 70's fashion than the good ol' 80's.

How's the job coming along, Ardith? Lucky was supposed to say hello to you the other day on my behalf... feel free to chide him if he failed to do so. I miss you, my geeky friend. I hope you have a fantabulous Wednesday.

Hey roomie, I really just wanted to bug Doug about his comment. I'll talk to you when I get back from Mexico :D. So Uncle Doug, after the year here at LU do you feel you stepped back into the good ol' days, when you were young? I just thought you know, 30 years ago was in your childhood right? ;) Hope the summer is going well for everyone! Pray for me while I'm in Mexico.. I'll be back on the 22nd. :)

Bleh, you shut up! Are you kidding? Stepped back into the good old days?! Bleh, I felt like I was back in highschool, darn teenagers. And, HEY, I NEVER lived through those times, and I do not wish to either, so there. *sticks out tongue*

Posted by: Uncle Doug at June 10, 2005 10:42 PM

*takes DNA sample from tongue*
*radio-carbon dates sample*
Yep folks, he's a dinosaur alright, 28 years old and counting.

Posted by: at June 11, 2005 08:07 AM

Sorry Ardith, don't mean to fill up your comment section with blather, but, but, but.... I am NOT 28 years old!! Just had to set the record straight. that age is being exaggerated by a full 4 years. Besides, carbon dating isn't that accurate. ;)

Posted by: Uncle Doug at June 12, 2005 04:09 PM

And by exaggerated by four years, you mean understated by at least 400 years.

Posted by: Vengeful Cynic at June 14, 2005 01:39 PM

Age, SMAGE.

I think the real question here, is:

Why hasn't Ardith posted more often? She may have a government job, but she could at LEAST tell us what she eats for lunch...

Posted by: votre chère maman at June 14, 2005 04:51 PM

I don't know, I think this "Uncle Doug" psychology makes pretty interesting reading.

Posted by: Sharon at June 14, 2005 09:32 PM

Ardith will post when she returns from her current mission in an undisclosed 3rd world country. Thank you for your patience.

Posted by: A Shadowy Figure at June 15, 2005 08:15 PM

3rd-world country = Iowa.

*Vanishes*

Posted by: A Slightly Translucent Figure at June 15, 2005 09:56 PM

Bologna! And again I say, "Ba-LO-ney!"

You've only been there a week. Don't try and pull that, "They're sending me on assignment to another country!" rot.

(can I come? I'll be good....)

Posted by: votre chère maman at June 15, 2005 10:18 PM

Ooh!! Really? Can you pick me up some slightly illegal and cheap drugs? Oh, wait, Iowa.... Do they have slightly illegal, cheap, and easy to obtain substances there too?

Oh, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with my physiology. If I really WAS 400+ years old, dude, I'm in great shape. However, I agree with....the french sounding person, Age Smage.

Posted by: Uncle Doug at June 15, 2005 10:48 PM

We always keep our agents supplied with slightly illegal and cheap drugs. Mr. Smage can give you more details.

Posted by: A Shadowy Figure at June 16, 2005 08:43 AM

*rolls eyes*

See, I spend a productive week and a half going to work, and chaos reigns in my absence.

No, Moore, I am not in a third-world country. Thank you for your time and please play again.

Obviously I should post again during this day-long Rational Rose training. XD
