Let's Start With Blueberries

I made blueberry pancakes for supper tonight. From scratch. With buttermilk. And with fresh blueberries. They were sooooo good...

*evil grin*

And now that I've made you all hungry again, we'll move on to what has really been happening this week.

...

Yup. That's right. There has been no excitement here. It's all been back home, with my mother (who has joined the ranks of those clamoring at me to post again) directing the work of a large portion of my dad's side of the family. From all the tales I've heard, several rooms in the house look completely different. And I've been informed that I'll be knocked out of the will again if I don't make it back to see it eventually.

However, just because nothing exciting has happened doesn't mean it hasn't been a good week. It just hasn't been exceptionally memorable; no tales of the apartment burning down, no exceptionally strange dreams, no rumors of aliens making Apartment 15-B their new landing pad.

Well, I'm not entirely sure about the last one. My cereal keeps making funny shapes in the bowl of milk...

And so, without further ado, we have:

Ardith's Plans for the Week

- Buy a DVD-/+RW drive. It will make me happy.
- Get around to going to Walmart.
- Finish my library books. At this rate, I won't have them finished until they're actually due. And we can't have that.
- Think about going through the last few random boxes of stuff. (Note: this does not imply I'm going to actually go through them.)
- Think about starting my next computer upgrade list.
- Think about buying a new backpack for the fall.
- Contemplate the ramifications of buying more books on Ebay. And wonder where on earth I'm going to put them.
- Oh. And also go to class, and work, and do the dishes, and maybe make supper once or twice. But that just follows under the general heading of Stuff.

Nice list, eh?

I'm betting I'll actually get the first one done. I already have it picked out, and I'm just waiting for the funds to make their way to my bank account. If you beg really, really hard, maybe I'll tell you which one I'm looking at.

You are pure blueberry evil...

But at least I had a DVD+RW first!

Jew's Review of Ardith's blog post

The post starts out with an attention-grabbing introduction, but the headliner plot fades away without ever being resolved. I can't read the author's mind; perhaps she is trying to communicate a subtle message, but if so, she has failed to communicate it to me.

The bulk of the post is made up of a list of To-Do items, which--while interesting--serve to further cement the fractured and random nature of the plot. Indeed, despite dozens of sub-themes there is no discernable plot. Some authors can make plotless stories interesting, but not here, unfortunately

Finally, I must confess to being confused at the author's attempt to blatantly threaten her readers: "*evil grin*" Do such threats truly prompt the critics to give positive reviews? Perhaps some. But not this critic.

I rate this post a 2 on my 5 point scale.

Hm. Now see, folks, there are two ways of responding to the mindless criticisms of the wanna-be elite. One is with napalm and tactical nukes.

I, however, am above all that.

I shall merely say that Jew has no idea what true Art really is.

We shouldn't discourage her so much and should be happy that she actually posted. (I have to be nice because I have another computer that you might have to look at.)

It's one of those things that when Ardith posts as infrequently as she does and as concisely as she does, any post is a good post. In other words, we had low expectations and she met them.

Plus, expecting cogent writing with appropriate transitions from Ardith is probably a bit much... she's not exactly a candidate for a Bachelor of the Arts degree. We're all probably lucky that we can just make sense of most of that random slapping of words together that she calls a post... ;-D

And still Ardith persists in the belief that she always wins by default . . .

Honestly, I don't know why Scholl bothers to whine about the lack of posting if the inevitable result is . . .

Nevermind. Clearly he felt that he needed to balance out the effects of his backhanded compliments from yesterday (http://www.shadowcouncil.org/vengefulcynic/archives/003396.html).

Also, for the record, you should build that jacuzzi like the breakfast cereal said . . .

That's not what my breakfast cereal said!!!!!!

Posted by: Ardith at July 12, 2004 09:52 AM

Wait a minute... since when did Ardith know how to interpret her breakfast cereal. She is strictly a computer psychic. For fuzzy things like cereal, you need a fuzzy guy like Jared. So he will tell you what your cereal said... which in this case involved building a jacuzzi.

Got your check in the mail today. Should be JUST enough to pay for that new lamp in the living room. :-)

Seriously, will deposit it on my way to taking trash to the dump this morning. Here's hoping no unfortuate mix-up occurs.

Loved Jew's review. Considering putting him?her? in the will.

Oh yes, in the interest of helping you cross a few items off your list, I have scoped out a nifty backpack at the local Goodwill store. It's a Smurf's theme, sure to make you stand out on campus. Keep thinkin' those humble thoughts....

Evil, Ardith's mom, evil.

I don't want to look at any smurph backpacks on campus. The things the Eternally Happy People make us look at are glaring enough already. ;)

Come on votre chere maman... please send Ardith that backpack. She would love it and it would make her even more outrageously popular than she already is. Not to mention she would the be the fashion epicenter of LeTourneau's newest revolution.

Posted by: Vengeful Cynic at July 12, 2004 12:52 PM

Mother dear, don't listen to the little troublemakers. Lovely as a smurf backpack would be, I don't think it would go with my decor at the moment.

*grin*

Posted by: Ardith at July 12, 2004 03:50 PM

I concur with la chère maman d'Ardith. A Smurfs backpack is the only thing I can think of that could make Ardith even more popular than she already is.

Posted by: Wilson at July 12, 2004 04:47 PM

(ok, now, that's two "for," and two "against" the Smurfs backback. I don't know. I'm just not sensing any traction here. Now, of course, we COULD go for the "Barbie" angle. Hmmm, what to do....what to do....)

Posted by: votre chère maman at July 14, 2004 09:49 AM

I would move to disqualify Toad's vote on the grounds that he cannot even spell "smurf." And while a Barbie backpack would be entertaining, i feel the Smurfs backpack would be far more stylish and remarkable... working wonders in furthering Ardith's bid for universal popularity.
